How do I know if an EMI fits my budget?

Look at your whole month, not just the EMI. From your take-home pay, subtract must-pay costs and current EMIs. What's left is your room for a new EMI. Then test a weak month, about 20% below normal. Can I afford it? runs both checks.

I can't pay my EMI this month. What should I do?

Act before the due date. Protect food, rent and medicines first, then contact your lender through its official number and ask what options exist. Get any offer in writing. Don't take a new app loan to pay an old EMI. See Hard to pay.

How do I check if a loan app is genuine?

Find the lender's legal name in the app or the KFS and search RBI's list of registered NBFCs. Then look for the app on RBI's list of digital lending apps. A real lender never asks for a fee before paying out. How to check a lender.

Does checking my CIBIL score lower it?

No. Checking your own score is a soft enquiry and doesn't count. Only the checks lenders make when you apply for credit count. Each of the four credit bureaus gives you one free full report every calendar year. Credit score basics.
